AL HASHAH ANCIENT VILLAGE - WADI BANI HANI, OMAN 🇴🇲

Al Hashah is a village in Wadi Bani Hani close to Al Rustaq in Oman.

Nestled between high mountains, the village is of amazing natural beauty, including a prominent large rock formation in the heart of the valley in a riverbed. This unique landscape, combined with plantations along the river, water ponds, and ample shaded areas, makes it a beautiful spot for those looking for tranquility, nature, and some adventure to explore an ancient mudbrick-built village.

The rock formation in the valley is in the middle of a riverbed, building the foundation for the ancient settlement of Al Hashah. During periods of heavy rainfall, Al Hashah ancient village transforms into an island, as its surrounding wadis and the dry riverbed fill with water, encircling the village. Exploring the old mud brick-built village with a watchtower at the tip of the rock formation is going back in time. The gated village is unfortunately decaying as people have moved out of the mud houses. You still can observe that the village was built in two rows of houses, one flanking the western side along the rock formation, the other one the eastern side. Both were separate by a narrow alley running north from the big wooden entrance gate to the south where the watch tower is located. Wandering though the village you can still imagine life in the village back then.

Unfortunately, there is limited information available about the ancient settlement or archaeological findings in the village.

Surrounding this village there are several other archeological sites worth visiting.

WADI TIWI - OMAN

A deep canyon, located about 160 km from Muscat along the road no. 17 towards Sur.
If you love hiking and adventure, this is the place to go. Lush green, natural.pools for a swim and a beautiful hike. At the end of the canyon you reach the village of Mibam with a small waterfall and another opportunity to swim.. You can drive up through a few villages, but the road is narrow and steep. A 4x4 car is recommended to go all the way up to.Mibam even though it is possible to drive up with a regular car. Otherwise, you also have the option to park your car in one of the villages on your way up.

DONT MISS WADI TIWI.

Go well prepared!! There are no shops along the way!
